Get your child ready for school!

At Great Beginnings, our goal is to provide a safe and welcoming environment where your child can learn and grow. We offer daycare services for children ages 2–10 and preschool for children ages 3–5. Our program includes academics, crafts, movement activities, free play, outdoor time, and a weekly Bible story. Within this, we offer a consistent routine that helps prepare your child for the structured environment of school.

Daycare (Ages 2–10) 


Full-Time 

Weekly: $135
The full-time rate is charged whether or not your child is present. 


Part-Time

Daily: $32
The part-time rate is charged only for the days your child is present. There is a one day minimum charge required weekly to continue holding your child's spot.


Preschool (Ages 3–5)
$80/month

In addition to daycare services, Great Beginnings offers preschool classes for children ages 3–5, held Monday through Thursday. These classes focus on preparing your child for school in a structured, engaging environment.

We’re proud that Great Beginnings consistently ranks among the top in Mount Vernon for kindergarten readiness scores. This reflects the strength of our program and our commitment to preparing children for lifelong learning.

Children may be enrolled in preschool only, or in both preschool and daycare. Because there is often a waiting list, we encourage you to contact us early to reserve your child’s spot.

Frequently Asked Questions

There is a 10% discount for families with more than one child enrolled.

At Great Beginnings, we strive to provide a structured and safe environment for every child. To support this, we use a simple color card system to guide behavior and communicate with parents:

  • Green Card
    A green card is positive! It means your child’s behavior was appropriate, and there were no issues that day.

  • Yellow Card
    A yellow card indicates that your child displayed inappropriate behavior, received a time-out, and had a conversation about making better choices.

  • Red Card
    A red card signals either a significant inappropriate behavior or repeated inappropriate behavior. If this occurs, you will receive a written notice explaining the situation, which must be signed and returned. Three red cards in one week will result in a conference with our daycare director.

Out of respect for our dedicated daycare staff, we ask that all children be picked up by 6:00 PM each day. A late fee of $1.00 per minute will apply for any pickups after 6:00 PM.

Daycare balances are due on the 15th of each month. Accounts that are not kept current may result in your child’s dismissal from Great Beginnings.

Great Beginnings will be closed on the following holidays:
  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • July 4th
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day and the following Friday
  • Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

Great Beginnings will close on the first day that Mount Vernon schools close for snow. We will reopen on any subsequent snow days for that series of closings.
