Day 13

Wednesday, February 19th

2 Timothy 3:14-17, NLT

14 But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You kmow they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you. 15 You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our ves. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip His people to do every good work.

Why all this fuss about reading the Bible?

Because it's good for you. Valid answer, but here are some more specific, and hopefully more inspiring reasons for reading the Bible.

Reading the Bible teaches you about salvation through faith in Christ. The more you read the Bible, the more you'll see God's plan of salvation through Christ spanning all the way through it.

And this teaching includes not only how to be saved, but how to live and grow in your salvation.

"All Scripture is inspired by God." Read the Bible because it is a gift from God. He gave it to you because He loves you, and wants you to know that He loves you. And reading the Bible teaches you how to live a life that brings you, and keeps you, close to God.

God loves you, and wanted you to have a relationship with Him. And now that you're saved, He wants you to show Christ's love to others. But He doesn't expect you to do it on your own, as you read the Bible, "God uses it to prepare and equip His people (that's you) to do every good work."

So, whether you've been a Christian since childhood, or you've been a Christian since last week: Read the Bible. It's good for you.

Think about it…

How did you learn about salvation through faith in Christ?

What knowledge, training, or talent do you have that God could use?

Take a moment with God

Give God praise and thanks for saving you!

Ask God to show you how you can serve Him by serving others.
