Ephesians 3:18-19, NIV

(I pray that you) may have power, together with all the Lord's holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge -- that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.


Jesus loves you.


What is your reaction to that statement? Have you heard it so much that it's kind of lost it's impact? It may be a commonly known fact, but it's an important fact. Paul thought that it was important enough that he made a point of praying that as Christians we would "have the power to grasp the full, magnificent extent of how much Jesus loves us. Or, to be more specific, that you may have the power to grasp the full, magnificent extent of how much Jesus loves you.


Paul prayed that we would know "this love that surpasses knowledge." So is he praying that we would know what can't be known? Sort of. You can read the Bible, or talk to people about what Christ has done in their lives. No matter how much you read or hear, no matter how deeply you truly believe those testimonies; you can't really grasp how wide and long and high and deep Christ's love is until you experience it for yourself. It's one thing to believe that Jesus loves you, and even to believe that He died to pay for your sins. It's a whole different experience to come to Jesus, confess your sins, and ask Him to forgive you. And then you know that He has forgiven you. All the things you hope no one will ever know, He knows. And He forgives you. And He loves you. Which brings us back to where we started...


Jesus loves you.

Tell God how grateful you are that He loves you. This is just between you and God.

You don't have to be eloquent, just sincere. He will hear the things you want to say, but can't put into words.
